  • The band came to Serbia as part of its world tour “99 revolutions”, organized as support to their trilogy “Uno”, “Dos”, “Tre”, released at the end of the last year. When, just before 22 h was heard Green Day cover of the Ramons song “Blitzkrieg Bop”, and pink rabbit got on the stage, the audience stirred.
Then on the stage stepped the trio: Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals and guitar), Mike Dimt (bassist and backing vocals) and Tré Cool (drums), backed with few more musicians for the tour, and played the “99 revolutions”.
They are used to playing in front of much bigger audience (it is expected that at the “Emirates” stadium in London will be 70,000 people, and on the “Leading end Reads Festival” as many as 80,000) but as true professionals, they played as 100,000 souls were listening to them.
“Belgradeeeeeeeee! Let’s go crazy! We love you! Do you know your enemies Belgrade?,” Armstrong announced hit “Know your enemy”, during which he played guitar behind his back and on one leg.

  • We're sharing a special featured blog from Idiot Nation member embug17. She was one of the lucky winners of the Broadway Idiot screenings at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Read her blog below. Enjoy!

It was Saturday, May 4 th 2013, I was hitting the road on to a thrilling, spontaneous adventure. Berkeley bound, to see a screening of Broadway Idiot at the Berkeley Repertory. I was in deep fantasy of what this night may have in store. Thoughts of possibly meeting the guys, entered through my mind. We were going to be in Berkeley after all. We, being my mother and I, who was stoked to see the show as well. We figured we wouldn’t be surprised if the bay area boys made a grand appearance. We could only hope. Time flew, as we entered the chill and the fog of the town. Will call tickets were in my hand. All systems go! We were ready.

As I walked through the doors of the theater, the warmth consumed me. Total comfort at last, from being outside, feeling the slight sting of the cold. The lobby of the theater was gorgeous. I walked around, as I heard the divine anthems being played from the sacred, American Idiot album. The vibes were all excited for the night. I could feel it. It would not be long before I would see how a treasure was all created. I couldn’t help but reveal a delighted grin. It was such a radical feeling to know that this theater, was where the production started. The home roots of a mighty success that made its way straight to Broadway. Stellar!

As I was roaming, and scoping out wicked foot wear with the striking hand/ heart grenade, my eyes also stumbled upon beautiful, black lochs. Dread locks, in a updo to be exact. I did not have to look twice to recognize that enchanting individual. Adrienne Armstrong was there. Chilling out with friends on the stairs up to the theater, I see the youngest Armstrong boy, Jakob Armstrong!

  • Artist: Green Day
    Year released: 1994
A veritable pop-punk Where's Waldo, Green Day's Dookie became an iconic cover purely based on the countless hours of examination the cover offered. An illustration by Bay Area artist Richie Bucher, the Dookie cover is a who's who of the San Francisco scene and the cultural touchstones the band walked over, including Black Sabbath and Angus Young. It's clean, chaotic, and instantly recognizable.

  • The show, which runs May 28 through June 2 at the San Diego Civil Theatre, takes the audience through the three men’s emotional journeys as mostly told through Green Day’s songs.

“This is such a potent time for our country and the search of our characters for what to believe in is gorgeously celebrated through Billie Joe [Armstrong] and Green Day’s wonderfully lush score,” said Tom Hulce, producer.

As with any job, there are occupational hazards that come with being an actor in musical theater.

On the touring production of “American Idiot,” it's the “bangover.”

“There are definitely some bangovers,” said Evan Jay Newman, the production's musical director, who also performs as part of the show's onstage band. “That's what we call the headache you have the next day after you've been on stage headbanging.”

BERKELEY, CALIF.—Local skateboard legend Jim Thiebaud has definitely made good
The co-founder of Real Skateboards, one of the biggest and most respected board companies in the U.S., Thiebaud announced a new fundraising partnership on Monday with East Bay rockers Green Day that will benefit Children’s Hospital & Research Center in Oakland.
“It’s a true collaboration with Green Day,” Thiebaud told the Daily News. “I’ve been friends with Billie Joe for more than 15 years. I grew up in Berkeley and Oakland. When you were a punk rocker or a skateboarder, you stuck out, so you got to know everyone in the scene.”
Mimicking the graphics for Green Day’s latest, multi-album release, “Uno!,” “Dos!,” and “Tré!,” Real is issuing custom skateboards that the company will sell in skate shops and online. Proceeds will go to Children’s Hospital.

Real Skateboards co-founder Jim Thiebaud has been friends with Armstrong for more than 15 years, and said he has long wanted to collaborate on a project with Green Day.

The band came to Serbia as part of its world tour “99 revolutions”, organized as support to their trilogy “Uno”, “Dos”, “Tre”, released at the end of the last year.
